Keeping Pets & People Together
Moving with Your Pet
There are many reasons people may feel like they are forced to surrender their pets. One of the most common reasons is also one of the most preventable - Moving. PLANNING AHEAD is the key to success!

It's likely you simply aren't aware of options and resources available to help you keep your pet with you as you transition to a new home. Even if a landlord states "no pets" or has breed restrictions, there may be ways to address and overcome these obstacles.

We've created a customized guide of moving and housing resources to help keep you and your pet together.
Let's get started:
  1. First, use the guidelines found in Renting with Pets to prepare a successful search for pet-friendly housing.
  2. Then, search for available pet-friendly housing on our "customized" listing specifically for Pinal County.
  3. Per the San Francisco SPCA, "Written agreements with clearly defined rules are the foundation of good landlord-pet guardian relations. Tenants should provide landlords with a pet resume." Seriously - a resume for your pet! Find a sample dog and cat resume and Pet Agreement, along with other helpful information at Tenants & Landlords.
Are there other resources that might be helpful?
  • Taking Your Pet When You Move
  • Dogs and Apartments
  • Pet-Friendly Senior Living
According to 'A Place for Mom', "an ever increasing number of assisted living communities allow pets, though sometimes with limitations on their number or size." Check out their "Guide To Pet Friendly Assisted Living", which includes a directory of pet friendly senior communities in areas surrounding Pinal County.
Still need help?
If you've given your best effort using the above resources but have not reached a workable solution that enables you to keep your pet, the next best step is to try to find a new home for your pet. You are your pet's best chance of finding a new home and family - not a shelter!!
